Enrolment : 30 pupils
Time : 8.00-9.00 am
Theme : World of Knowledge
Topic : Clothing”
Main Skill : Reading
Language Focus : Adjectives: baggy, flowery, polka dot, striped
Integrated Skill(s) : Listening, speaking and writing
Learning Outcome : 3.3 Read and understand phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and whole texts.
Curriculum Specifications : 3.3.1 Read and understand phrases.
Previous Knowledge : Pupils are familiar with basic clothing items eg: ‘shirt’, ‘dress’, ‘shorts’ and ‘socks’.
Behavioral Objectives :
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to identify and describe clothes using the adjectives that have been taught.
eg: ‘baggy’, ‘striped’ ‘flowery’ and ‘polka dot’
Instructional materials : Picture cards, laptop, LCD projector, speaker, cue cards, stick puppets.

Aural-Oral Activity:
-‘Hide and Seek Clothes Song’
Eg: Can you find all the missing clothes?
Do you still remember what is the name of the clothes?


  1. Teacher shows a video entitled ‘Hide and Seek Clothes Song’.
  2. Teacher hides few clothes in the classroom.
  3. Pupils look for the missing clothes and hang them on the washing line.
  4. Teacher then elicits responses from the pupils regarding the name of the clothes.
  5. Pupils give their responses accordingly.

-To tap pupils’ schemata regarding clothes.
-To arouse pupils interest and draw their attention to the lesson.

  1. Teacher divides pupils into groups of 4 and gives each group a clothing items. eg: a baggy shirt, a striped pants & a flowery skirt.
  2. Teacher flashes the jazz chant (refer Appendix 1) to each group.
  3. Each group has to read and chant their assigned part while the other groups are to correspond accordingly eg: What shirt?,What skirt?& What pants.
  4. Teacher prompts pupils to identify the adjectives from the jazz chant.
  5. Teacher then introduces and explains the adjectives that are used to describe the clothing items.
-To introduce pupils to various adjectives that are used to describe clothes.

-To enable pupils to use appropriate adjectives to describe clothes.

-Activity 1:
Game:“Pink Panther Detective”










  1. Pupils are to remain in their own groups.
  2. Teacher introduces the game and the rules to the pupils; Four thieves are missing. As detectives, identify the thieves by dressing them up accordingly the clue card.
  3. Teacher then distributes a thief puppet and a cue card to each group. (refer to Appendix 2)
  4. Pupils are to complete the game within the time limit given and paste their thief puppet on the board.
  5. Teacher facilitates and gives feedbacks to each group.
-To reinforce pupils’ understanding of the adjectives learnt.

-To enhance pupils’ reading skills.

-Activity 2:
Mime and Guess the Clothes!”


  1. Pupils work in groups of 4.
  2. Each group has to select a member from another group and mime the clothing items he/she is wearing.
  3. Other groups are to describe the clothing item and guess who the person is wearing them.
  4. The groups with the most accurate description and guesses will be the winner
-To reinforce pupils’ understanding on the adjectives that they have learnt.

-To get pupils to practice what they have learnt.

- Always remember to dress up accordingly to the situation and the place you are.


  1. Teacher gets the pupils to recall all the adjectives they have learnt from the lesson.
  2. Teacher also instills moral values regarding dressing codes.
  3. Teacher plays the song ‘Hide and Seek Clothes’ again.
  4. Pupils sing the song together.
-To get pupils to reflect and consolidate about the lesson learnt on adjectives.

-To conclude the lesson in a memorable manner
